2009 FOUR WINNS V408

2009 FOUR WINNS V408

THE V408: DEVELOPED TO SATE CRUISERS SEEKING STREAMLINED STYLE

The V408 marks a new beginning for cruisers around the world. Making its debut in early 2009, the V408 sets itself apart from other cruisers on many levels, forever defining it as a new generation of express cruisers.

Starting with its sleek profile, Four Winns has allowed its revered cruiser body style to evolve into a 43-footer with plenty of cockpit headroom without a top-heavy appearance. The forward-thinking designers of the V408 created a cruiser with a remarkably roomy interior.

From first step aboard the V408 swim platform, it is clear that water lovers have plenty of room to spread out. An optional hydraulic lift transitions inflatables and PWCs in and out of the water easily and safely. An angled deep-reach hidden ladder with wide step pads is included for the swimmer’s comfort. Four Winns adds a unique touch to the swim platform with a storage tub large enough to store fenders; and when not in use for storage, the tub’s clear glass bottom is a fun way to see what’s below without diving in. Showcase patriotic spirit with the new flag pole and holder option. Swimmers can enjoy optional Flexiteek flooring for minimal slipping, or genuine teak wood flooring for an extra special touch. And, there’s a hot/cold shower for rinsing away sand and debris. The optional underwater lighting creates a beautiful atmosphere with large light fixtures mounted below the swim platform, filling the surrounding water with a luminous glow.

A large stainless steel electric grill located at the transom takes a starring role in entertaining, keeping the food near the fun and the cooking residue away from the hardtop and helm. And, an additional table is available at the transom.

For convenience, the V408 has lots to offer: dockside inlets for power, telephone and water, with cable master system. Transom storage lockers hold plenty of important gear. At service time, the engine hatch has electric assisted lifts.

Through the stainless-steel framed Plexiglass transom door, the cockpit welcomes. Four Winns engineers took an innovative step in designing the V408’s aft bench seat. With a flip of a switch the seat’s backrest slides forward, thus enlarging the aft-facing swim platform seat to become a spacious lounge. Seats feature upgraded AquaflexTM vinyl and the cockpit includes marine carpet over the fiberglass liner. Flooring is also available in Flexiteek, or genuine teak for the ultimate nautical finish. An optional Florentine Package includes vinyl in a deep color reminiscent of beach sand, and high-quality carpet with a teak-like slatted pattern. Custom-matched pillows are available, creating a warm atmosphere from the first steps aboard.

The cockpit is well suited for relaxation and entertainment. Below the standard hard top with multi-colored recessed lights, the cockpit is home to a generous U-shaped stern seat (with fill-in cushions) and removable cocktail table. Hors d’oeuvres and cold beverages are in demand, so Four Winns equipped the V408 with gourmet drawer-style stainless steel refrigerator and icemaker, blender, sink with faucet and beautiful solid-surface counter tops. An optional flat screen television mounted above the refreshment area in the cockpit is perfect for keeping abreast of the latest news and best in entertainment. Blue courtesy lighting enhances the atmosphere and guides the way.

The coupe-style fiberglass hardtop provides ample shelter, coupled with an amazingly large sunroof with electronic adjustment. The expansive sunroof, combined with wide windshield walk-thru steps, allows passage to the foredeck with ease and plenty of headroom. The retractable sunroof is also available in glass for a great sky view even when it is in the closed position.

Though the V408 styling is new, many of the classic Four Winns standards carry over to the V408, including Volvo’s revolutionary Inboard Performance System (IPS) and joystick control, making handling and docking easy and worry-proof. The captain is comfortable and in-control in the step-down helm, surrounded by the sophisticated helm and double width seat with driver-side power adjustment and flip-up bolsters.

A tilt, tri-spoke deluxe steering wheel takes center stage at the helm. A compass is standard to help guide the way, in addition to the Volvo Electronic Vessel Control instrumentation with a fuel gauge, oil pressure, tachometer, temperature, and volt meter. Dual engine binnacle controls and trim tabs with indicators are helpful standard features. Plus, fingertip rocker switches are logically placed and labeled for intuitive adjustments. And when the weather doesn’t cooperate, port and starboard windshield wipers improve visibility for captain and crew. The Faria depth gauge displays air and water temperature for added convenience. For utmost safety precautions, a gas vapor gauge is standard.

Plus, there’s plenty of space for the optional navigational equipment package, which includes a Raymarine VHF-240, C120 GPS/chart plotter, DSM 30 digital sounder, radar with 4kw 48″ open array HD scanner, ST70 Smartpilot Autopilot, and SIRIUS Satellite Marine Weather. A navigation package upgrade includes two E120 displays. The electronic shift and throttle make shifting smooth and effortless.

Adjacent to the helm is roomy port lounge large enough for two, and perfect for conversational seating near the helm. The lounge also features an aft-facing backrest in a reclining position for relaxation with a marvelous view.

From cockpit to foredeck and back again is a matter of just a few ergonomically positioned steps. The super-wide center walk-thru windshield to the foredeck is a delight for sun worshippers. The optional integrated sunpads have adjustable backrests for conversion to chaise lounges, and an available fold-away canvas cabana for shade from the hot sun. In addition, Four Winns breaks away from the pack with its bow rail system. For traversing the V408, the bow rails are safely positioned at full height from bow all the way aft to the molded steps leading to the cockpit. Particularly useful for those who like to exit from the bow, the rails are open with a unique step-thru. An anchor line locker at the bow is large with room for two fenders, along with an anchor wash-down utility. The windlass includes foot controls, rope, chain and anchor with upgraded bow roller. A remote flood/spotlight is standard.

A solid plexiglass companionway door with overhead sliding screen provides good ventilation and sound buffering in the cabin below. One step below deck, and it becomes clear that the V408 is special. Natural light pours in from the giant port lites and atrium-style deck windows. Headroom is generous for an expansive feeling, and the décor has a contemporary European flair. The salon features a sofa that converts to a berth, and two side-by-side blond wood dining tables that can be adjusted to serve just the right number of guests. Large storage compartments are nestled above the sofa, and a built-in bar with a bottle and stemware cabinet allows boaters to showcase a favorite vintage and prized crystal. The sueded sidewall fabric is both sophisticated and cozy, running throughout the cabin. High quality carpet is standard, with hardwood flooring an option. The salon will be an entertainment hot spot with its flat screen television and Bose surround sound. iPod/MP3 ports at the cockpit and cabin make it easy to tune in or charge a cell phone with the 12-volt charger. Plus, climate control is simple with A/C controls located in the salon and the master berth.

The graceful galley features an L-shaped solid surface counter and stunning cabinetry and storage compartments with smoked-glass garage-style doors for a clean, contemporary feel. A moveable bar extends from the counter surface to provide extra entertaining or serving space. Under-cabinet lighting makes coffee-making and meal prep a snap. The V408’s two-burner flush-mount stove, convection oven, and trash receptacle are all discreetly mounted within the cabinetry. The refrigerator is a large side-by-side stainless steel model for the conveniences of the mainland. And, behind the range is a useful storage area for small items, keeping everything tidy. Flooring in the galley area is beautiful teak and holly for easy clean-up.

The private forward stateroom is separated from the salon by a sliding pocket door that opens to a spacious and light-filled oasis. The island berth with an electronically adjustable innerspring mattress raises and lowers at the head for comfortable reading or movie-watching on the flat screen TV with DVD player. The berth is complete with roman shade window coverings, under-berth storage and a cedar-lined hanging locker. Overhead, Four Winns redefines the deck hatch by creating a cluster of windows to form an atrium, with the center hatch with screen opening as needed for ventilation. A sliding shade conceals the entire atrium area for privacy and light control. Lighting is complete with multi-position chrome reading lights on either side of the berth, along with multi-zone overhead lighting. The forward stateroom is designed for comfort with its own A/C control and a door that leads directly to the head for complete privacy.

The head is accessible from the forward stateroom and salon, and is complete with a raised bowl sink situated on solid surface countertop. The spacious design and function are added luxuries, with a porcelain VacuFlush head, and separated hot water shower. Plenty of storage, towel rack and overhead lighting make the space perfectly beautiful and efficient. Ventilation is no problem with the screened port light and power ventilation fan. Tank level indicators in the cabin help to ensure fresh water and waste are attended to as needed. To help Four Winns boaters comply with marine standards, Four Winns now equips the V408 with an interlock switch that prevents unintentional direct overboard discharge.

Dining space is very roomy in the standard aft cabin, with generous L-shaped sectional seating. A hanging locker is also located in aft cabin for extra storage space.

An optional aft bulkhead with frosted glass sliding pocket doors for privacy can be added to create an aft stateroom with L-shaped sofa that converts to a berth, a head with separate shower, and a flat screen television. An additional option can be added to include a double bed to the stateroom in lieu of the sofa. For long trips laundry is necessary, so Four Winns offers the optional washer/dryer in the aft cabin area.

Boaters can choose from three interior decor packages: Sea & Sand, Black & Tan, and Midnight Blue – all available at standard pricing. Regardless of the color scheme, included are decorating accoutrements such as throw pillows, shams, V-berth sheets, and innerspring mattress that round out the luxury of the cabin. Adding to the comfort is the V408’s 20,000 BTU air conditioning and heating system for the perfect climate, no matter the season. The tightly-woven cabin carpet can be kept shipshape with the standard central vacuum; or as an option, attractive teak flooring can be added throughout the cabin.

The V408 is standard in all-white with a tapered hull accent gel stripe just above the water line, available in Black, Navy, Red, Driftwood Tan, Copper or Silver. Another option is the two-tone color format with a tapered hull accent gel stripe. New for 2009 are Pastel Yellow and Pastel Blue gel coat colors for a subtle and rich finish.

A color-matched canvas camper system, fabricated from top-quality, high performance Sunbrella fabric, is included as standard equipment, and converts the deck to a fully sheltered entertainment area for those breezy evenings on the water. The canvas system has been enhanced for 2009 with color-coded zippers that correspond to port (red) and starboard (green) for time-savings. And, a top frame mounting pin makes managing the bimini top even easier.

The V408 is available with Volvo Penta gasoline power in Twin IPSG 550 400 hp; Twin IPS 500 370 hp with Joystick Control; or Twin IPS 600 435 hp.
