Earth Day | April 22

April 22, 2019, marks the 49th anniversary and 50th observance of Earth Day ― a day intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the earth’s natural environment. In 1969, organizers started Earth Day in response to a massive oil spill in waters near Santa Barbara, California. Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Earth Day now includes events in more than 193 countries, which are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.
