Grand Banks Yachts Announces All-New 55 Eastbay SX
This all-new Eastbay expands the opportunity for owners and their guests to cruise in comfort and luxury. Accommodations include two cabins, each featuring a queen berth and en-suite head with full shower. Space on the helm deck is equally generous, with more room and light that spills in from a power sunroof. Stylish décor is accented by curved glass and an aft salon window that disappears with the touch of a button, while the standing/seated helm station with sliding Stidd chair is new as well.
All-New 55 Eastbay SX addition to the Company’s popular series of Downeast-style yachts. With a completely redesigned and expanded salon, generous two-stateroom layout and luxurious new interiors, the 55SX is a more spacious and stylish successor to the highly-acclaimed 54 Eastbay SX first launched in 2002.
“The 55 Eastbay SX was designed to offer the very best for today’s cruising couple,” said Neil McCurdy, Vice President of Sales for Grand Banks Yachts. “There were no compromises: more space, more features, top-quality equipment and an incredibly refined, nautical style. The 55SX is bound to turn heads wherever she goes.”
This all-new Eastbay expands the opportunity for owners and their guests to cruise in comfort and luxury. Accommodations include two cabins, each featuring a queen berth and en-suite head with separate standing shower. Space on the lengthened helm deck is equally generous, with more seating, a large bar and entertainment center, and a separate raised dinette.
The larger salon doesn’t just feel more open, it is more open: light spills in from a new power sunroof, while the main aft window disappears with the touch of a button, opening to a larger teak-decked cockpit. There, owners have the option to include an L-settee that cleverly hides a powerful hydraulic davit from sight.
As large and roomy as she feels inside, the new 55 Eastbay SX was also designed for single-handing when the need – or desire – arises. With a down-galley, dishwasher, and washer/dryer combo, the 55SX is equally brilliant as a weekender or long-term cruising yacht. The optional layout provides an additional third stateroom/office combination.
Up on deck, the teak-decked cockpit is larger than ever, with an optional aft settee that ingeniously hides a powerful davit. With too many standard features to list here and a plenty of available options, the 55SX is truly unrivaled in her class.
The 55 Eastbay SX comes equipped with twin Caterpillar C-15 ACERT 853-horsepower engines, which will take her quickly to 30-plus knots atop her proven C.R. Hunt-designed hull. With a down-galley, dishwasher, and washer/dryer combo, the 55SX is equally brilliant as a weekender or long-term cruising yacht. The optional layout provides an additional third stateroom/office combination at the owner’s choosing.
Even with all her size and power, however, the 55SX was explicitly designed for single-handing when the need arises – a must-have feature, according to prospective owners.
In fact, GB owners and other boaters were consulted throughout the development process. “We actively interviewed a number of owners, often on their boats, to get at heart of their needs and desires,” said McCurdy. “The 55SX is a direct reflection of that work – the best of the best, all in one incredible new Grand Banks.”
