Formula Boats 40 Performance Cruiser
The 40 PC is a new, high-end express cruiser that demonstrates both functionality and timeless style. She’s both practical and impressive with luxurious accommodations perfect for weekend getaways.
The 40 PC started off as the 37 PC but Formula renamed it to reflect its true length overall
The cockpit features good seating for family and guests, and up on the bow twin sun pads are just the place for sun worshipers. Down below, the cabin has just about everything you’ll need for your cruise. The galley is complete with refrigerator, two-burner cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, TV/VCR, and good cabinet space. The forward stateroom features a double berth with good stowage underneath, and the salon has a u-shaped sofa with two dining stools that seat six comfortably. The aft cabin can also be used for dining and easily converts into a double berth at night.
Bridging the gap between the 34 and 41 foot models, the 40 PC utilizes increased interior space and implements all new technology and construction techniques to produce an up to date and refined performance cruiser. Formula has again created a versatile boat that will lead the pack.
Smartly bridging the gap between the 34 and 41 foot models, Formula has unveiled the 40 PC that utilizes V-drives for increased interior space and implements all new technology and construction techniques to produce an up to date and refined performance cruiser.
Starting at the bow, the deck features a unique anchor locker hatch that also covers the hawse pipe and chute for the anchor. This design feature ensures that the smooth lines of the boat are not disturbed by an unsightly bow pulpit and anchor….a nice touch! There’s also a windlass and a deep anchor locker for plenty of rode or chain. The foredeck is completely non-skidded with a deep pattern ensuring solid footing when forward and the high stainless steel bow rail provides added safety. There’s a huge sun pad for all of your helio therapy patrons and access to the cockpit is easy by way of the walk through windshield with grab rail in molded integral non-skid steps. Even the wide walkways atop the gunnels provide easy access to the cockpit when boarding.
The helm is race oriented with VDO gauges and meters, sport tilt steering wheel, excellent placement of gear and throttle levers, and ample dash space for a variety of electronics and navigation aids. The wide helm seat also features a flip up thigh rise bolster for the captain allowing perfect lines of sight when docking or underway.
The companionway is a sleek one piece translucent sliding hatch that neatly disappears along one of the main bulkheads. To port is a double seat lounge with storage large beneath and just aft is a great molded wet bar with sink, and storage. The U-shaped cockpit seating is roomy and perfect for a whole crew of family and friends to lounge comfortably and converse. Add the optional tables and it becomes either the aft dining area or a huge sun pad with the optional inserts. In the sole you’ll find access to the front of the engine compartment and the entire aft deck and transom lift for access to the rest of the engine room….. a great design feature! There’s also storage in the transom and the over sized swim platform can be ordered with hydraulic rams making the launch and retrieval of watercraft a snap.
Entry into the salon gives a feeling of a much larger vessel thanks to the use of V-drives in the engine compartment. The 6’9″ headroom is incredible and even tall boaters won’t have to duck and crouch around. To starboard is an Ultra-leather U-shaped lounge that converts into a double berth. Forward and centerlined is the master berth with storage beneath and large closets on each side. A privacy curtain is neatly hidden next to the forward bulkhead.
To port a tastefully designed galley is complete with Corian counter top, microwave, refrigerator/ freezer, stovetop, and ample storage. You decide between natural or cherry finishes and I would also opt for the plate and flatwear option for complete service while at sea or away from the dock. The head is full sized as well located just aft of the galley and will provide comfort and privacy for all your guests. Aft of the salon you’ll find the mid-cabin berth that is not only a great social area but a very comfortable berth when converted.
During our tests the 40 PC was a little slow to plane but that was a result of the turbo pressure rising in the Yanmar diesels and not a reflection of the hull. Once on top she handled with the nimbleness of a 30-footer and was also very easy to dock using only the twin screws.
