The Intermarine 55 Luxury Yacht Sets Sail in Summer 2011 as BMW Group DesignworksUSA Continues its Creative Collaborations with Leading Brazilian Firms
BMW Group DesignworksUSA has collaborated with Intermarine, Brazil’s leading shipyard for luxury yachts, to create the elegant, powerful and refined Intermarine 55. Setting sail in July 2011, the Intermarine 55 is the first in a new era yachts for Intermarine, and the latest among DesignworksUSA’s growing portfolio of clients to hail from Brazil, an emerging capital of design and industry.

Today Brazil is the world’s 8th largest industrial nation, and many of its leading companies are selecting DesignworksUSA to create products that resonate both with consumers in the region, and with increasing importance, consumers in export markets across the word. In addition to Intermarine, DesignworksUSA’s Brazilian-based clients also include Embraer, which is based in Sao Jose do Campos and is the third largest aviation producer in the world; Schioppa, the leader in medical casters, which is based in Sao Paulo; and Pado, the brass and aluminum provider, which is also based in Sao Paulo.

More broadly, DesignworksUSA is finding opportunities for great design throughout South America, and is presently collaborating with Venezuela-based Siragon, the manufacturer and assembler of computer hardware and other technology products including digital cameras, peripherals and plasma television screens.

DesignworksUSA’s thorough experience with a broad range of clients at each tier of the yacht market was another. While Intermarine resides at the upper segment of the luxury yacht market, DesignworksUSA also creates for Germany’s Bavaria Yachts, a manufacturer of entry-level yachts. Further, together with its client HF Interiors, DesignworksUSA creates bespoke, one-of-a-kind environments for ultra exclusive mega-yachts.

The Exterior

The BMW Group DesignworksUSA designers created an innovative design for the exterior of the boat, translated in powerful, focused, elegant and refined lines.

The large windows of the boat form together an harmonic set, outstanding the original format of the glasses next to helm station panel in the salon. Another remarkable innovation is the format of all the windows hull sides. There is no circular or oval porthole, traditionally met at the boats.

The portholes of the Intermarine 55 are rectangular and boxed in large windows in trapezium format, which enable more luminosity visibility in the interiors, besides bringing outstanding beauty and character to the new model. The lines exhibited by the creases in the hull, a trend in the automotive industry that now reaches the nautical world, as well as the impressive air entrances in stainless steel, define the unique personality of the boat. The bow, with a totally new format, characterized by a well defined angle, brings a strong presence to the boat and offers a solarium with much comfort and space for sun bath. The large swim platform, equipped with hydraulic lift, drops below the water level. It is possible to hoist a dinghy or jet-ski or to use it as a private beach on board.

In this same space, an appliqué in stainless steel with the Intermarine and 55 model logotypes, shows that this is a yacht like any other. The stern area, conceived especially for the use of the boat in the Brazilian climate, spacious and easy to circulate, it is a nice place to welcome the guests. It has a sofa in U, a wide meal table, cooler, several compartments for storage and a gourmet area equipped with sink, barbecue and space for preparing meals. The bow with a defined angle is also innovative. The solarium offers much comfort and space for sun bath.

Flybridge

The flybridge is one of the noble spaces of the Intermarine 55. Its different layout has a large solarium in front of the helm station , a big sofa with a meal table ,a smaller sofa and a cupboard with sink, barbecue and a fridge.

The Interior

The internal areas of the Intermarine 55 were conceived from the theme “open horizons”. Inspired in the modern architecture, the spaces are full of natural light, cozy and seducing. The big windows allows an ample and free view of the sea and are present in all boat places, in the salon, in the cabins and even in the head compartments. The salon door, with three leaves, allows a perfect integration with the stern área, due to its wide opening.

Main deck

In the salon, at the main deck, two large sofás seat the family and the guests. One of them, in front of a central table, that converts into a table meal.

The furniture follows a contemporaneous style. The straight lines allow a better utilization of the spaces and the combination of the wood Elm Rigato, Wengé and White Lacquered result in extremely modern spaces that acquire a sophisticated and cozy touch with the contrast of the tonalities. Soon in front, at starboard, it is the internal helm station and, at port, the galley. The helm station is another notability of the Intermarine 55, by its inovative design, with a strong marine inspiration. The intuitive disposal of the panel instruments offers comfort and pleasure when steering

The galley is also an outstanding by its privileged localization. It allows to prepare the meals gazing the sea with good friends. The clean furniture and all the equipments make this space modern and complete.

Lowerdeck

On the lowerdeck are located the cabins and bathrooms. The master cabin located amidships occupies the yacht´s entire width and is also influenced by modern architecture. The queen-size bed, large windows and the elegant bathroom compose this spacious suite. The vip suite on the bow is sophisticated. Besides the large side windows, other innovation: two hatches on the ceiling bath the room with natural light that can accommodate a couple in a queen-size bed with confort and luxury. The guest cabin has two twin beds that can be converted to a doube bed and it also has natural light coming through a window on the ceiling. The new Intermarine 55 also has a confortable crew cabin with private bathroom and shower.

Performance

The New Intermarine 55 allows a choice of engine. It can reach a top speed of up to 35 knots in its most powerful version, and a top speed of 31 knots in the long-ange version. Choice of engine ranges from 2 x 670 hp to 2 x 800 hp.

Design Details: The Intermarine 55

Measuring 57 feet in total length, the Intermarine 55 is a very luxurious boat, not only because of the exclusivity of the design, but also because of the balance of spaces. It was conceptualized to provide harmony for day and night use, and has an excellent internal arrangement including a salon, galley, three cabins and two bathrooms. It comfortably seats six people and one sailor.

The team at DesignworksUSA created an innovative design for the exterior of the boat, translated in powerful, elegant and refined lines. The large windows have a unique and dynamic shape while offering an open view to the sea. Another remarkable innovation is the shape of all the hull side windows. There is no circular or oval porthole as traditionally used in boats. The portholes of the Intermarine 55 are integrated into the large trapezoid shaped windows, which enable more luminosity and visibility in the interiors, besides bringing outstanding beauty and character to the new model. The feature lines in the hull that define the unique personality of the boat are forms known in the automotive industry that now reach the nautical world. Similarly inspired by automotive are details like the the impressive air intakes in stainless steel. The bow characterized by a well defined angle, brings a strong presence to the boat, uniquly identifying Intermarine.

The big windows in the salon, cabins and even in the bathrooms allow an open view to the sea. The salon door offers perfect integration with the stern area thanks to its wide opening via three door panels. Since Brazil’s climate allows for optimal time on deck, the design included open transitions for increased functionality.
